Manhunt After Woman Stabbed 16 Times in Motshane

A woman stabbed to death in Motshane has sparked a police manhunt after officers confirmed they are looking for her husband, who fled the scene early Thursday morning.

Police say the victim, a 30-year-old woman, was attacked inside her family home after a loud argument. She was stabbed more than 16 times and died at the scene. Her husband, Thulani Ginindza (40), is now a person of interest and is being sought by police.

According to information released by Royal Eswatini Police Service, the suspect had returned from his workplace in Mbeka, Mankayane, on New Year’s Eve. It is believed he came back home without being noticed. On New Year’s Day, the couple’s children found him asleep at home and asked where their mother was, as she had not returned since Wednesday afternoon.

In the early hours of Thursday, the man reportedly took the children to a nearby forest to collect firewood. When they returned, the mother was still not home. Shortly after, she arrived, entered the house, and her husband followed her inside. Moments later, the children heard shouting and their mother screaming for help.

One child ran to a nearby spaza shop to raise the alarm. Community members rushed to the homestead, but they arrived too late. The woman stabbed repeatedly had already died. Police say the suspect escaped before help arrived.

The killing has shaken residents in Motshane, with many saying they are disturbed that the attack happened in the morning and in front of children who were nearby. Community members say they tried to respond as fast as possible after hearing the cries.

Police have launched a manhunt and are appealing to anyone with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest to come forward. Officers say the woman stabbed case is being treated as a serious murder investigation.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Thulani Ginindza is urged to contact the nearest police station or use the numbers shared by police. Authorities say information from the public could be key in bringing the suspect to justice.

Police have not yet confirmed when the suspect will be charged or where he may have fled. The investigation is ongoing.
