Police Arrest Three Suspects in Scam Targeting Matsanjeni Pastor

Matsanjeni, Eswatini — The Royal Eswatini Police Service has confirmed the arrest and charging of three suspects in connection with a scam that targeted a 45-year-old pastor from Matsanjeni, resulting in a financial loss of E34,421.
According to an update shared yesterday on the official REPS Facebook page, two suspects were arrested and charged with theft by false pretence following a swift investigation by police. The suspects, believed to be central to the scam, include a 25-year-old man from Khabudla and a 23-year-old man from Buka, Ezulwini.
The alleged offence occurred on Friday, 12 December 2025, when the victim was reportedly defrauded of the money under false representations. Police investigations moved quickly, leading to the arrest of the two suspects within a week.
In a further development, police revealed that an 18-year-old teenager who was arrested by the Mafutseni police on Tuesday is also linked to the same case and is now regarded as an additional suspect.
REPS noted that the arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of coordinated investigations and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing perpetrators of fraud and other financial crimes.
The suspects are expected to appear in court as investigations continue.
